A Three-Dimensional Model of Residential Energy Consumer Archetypes for Local Energy Policy Design in the UK
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper reviews major studies in three traditional lines of research in residential energy consumption in the UK, i.e., economic/infrastructure, behaviour, and load profiling. Based on the review the paper proposes a three-dimensional model for archetyping residential energy consumers in the UK by considering property energy efficiency levels, the greenness of household behaviour of using energy, and the duration of property daytime occupancy. With the proposed model, eight archetypes of residential energy consumers in the UK have been identified. They are: pioneer greens, follower greens, concerned greens, home stayers, unconscientious wasters, regular wasters, daytime wasters, and disengaged wasters. Using a case study, these archetypes of residential energy consumers demonstrate the robustness of the 3-D model in aiding local energy policy/intervention design in the UK. & 2012 Elsevier Ltd. Energy Consumption Modeling in Residential Buildings
In recent years, the issue of energy consumption modeling techniques in the building sector has been widely considered by researchers and managers. Researches indicate that energy consumption in residential sector is one of the main parts of the total consumption. Moreover, the urban residence is supposed as a significant consumer of energy in every country and therefore a focus for energy cons...
متن کاملAssessment of Occupant's Behavior on Energy Consumption: Case of Shahid Pakdel Residential Complex in Esfahan
The main share of energy consumption in the country and more than a third of its loss is in residential use. Per capita, household electricity consumption is far from the world standard, and the existence of subsidies for energy carriers in Iran, and consequently their low prices, causes occupants to pay less attention to energy consumption. Due to the policy of eliminating subsidies, the effec...
متن کاملInvestigating the role of high-rise building shell elements in reducing energy consumption (case example: Isfahan Cascade doctors' residential towers)
Significant energy is used to provide and maintain environmental conditions for thermal comfort in high-rise residential buildings, which largely depends on the components of the shell design. Therefore, to achieve high amounts of energy savings in buildings, high-impact design measures must first be defined and then optimized. This study seeks to answer the question of how the components of th...
متن کاملEstimation and Prediction of Residential Building Energy Consumption in Rural Areas of Chongqing
Energy simulation is a vital part of energy policy of a country, especially for a developing country like China where energy consumption is growing very rapidly. The present study has been conducted to simulate the total primary energy consumption in residential sector in rural areas in Chongqing by using macro and micro drivers including population size, number of households, persons per house...
متن کاملChallenges Facing Healthwatch, a New Consumer Champion in England
This article engages with debates about the conceptualisation and practical challenges of patient and public involvement (PPI) in health and social care services. Policy in this area in England has shifted numerous times but increasingly a consumerist discourse seems to override more democratic ideas concerning the relationship between citizens and public services. Recent policy change in Engla...
